Waiting, Waiting and more Waiting...

Well,
I am waiting.
And waiting.
And then waiting some more.
Because UofL Nursing School has decided to make us all wait.
Not that any of us have anything better to do. Like plan the summer for our KIDS IF we get in. Or like plan the summer for our KIDS IF we do NOT get in.
You see, these plans are VASTLY different.
IF I get IN: I will be gone all day, pretty much every day. Yes, I have weekends off but I will need to study since I will be busting a** the entire week with clinicals and classes and labs. And when I say I will be gone ALL day. I mean ALL DAY. As in leave the house by 6am to make sure I am across town by start time of 7am. And will finish around 5pm two days and 6:30pm the other days. So what do YOU think? Do I need to schedule something for the kids or just let them play LORD OF THE FLIES for the summer?? Hmmm....
Ok, so let's say I do not get in (and truly the ONLY reason that would happen is because GOD does not want me there. Totally not kidding on this friends. This SHOULD BE a slam dunk for me - NOT being conceited here, just honest with the work I have put in ok. So I mean it when I say the ONLY reason I wouldn't get in is because the Big Kahuna seriously DOES NOT WANT ME THERE.) So, just for funsies, let's say it is a No Go. Then I don't really need all these expensive camps I have signed my kids up for in order to keep the blood level in the house below ankle level! Not to mention the fact that I can not afford them without the student loans that come along with Admission to the Nursing Program.
See what I mean??!! If I sign the kids up and don't get in, I have lots of cancellation fees to pay. If I don't sign the kids up, there is no space left in the camps. (And knowing this, I did sign up for several of the camps and Yes, Virginia, they are already FULL at this time so it is a good thing that I did) This is called being between a ROCK and a HARD PLACE. And I do believe I am WEDGED IN.
So...I Wait.

THUNDER!!
Guess I'm gonna have to post this with the Ac/Dc song playing because no matter what, when it comes to Thunder over Louisville, they play that song! Thunder was Very Cool this year - they added some fun new fireworks that I had not seen before. I LOVED the rainbow coming off the 2nd St. Bridge and they played parts of "What a Wonderful World" first by Iz, then by Louis Armstrong. I love being reminded of how wonderful my life is!! Sometimes things get so hectic I start to forget and it just takes a bit of a nudge to get my head out of my a**. (sorry kids!) I also LOVED the fireworks that produced these cool Balls of Fire!! Super neato!! I can't find a picture of those yet but I will look! We also had some new looking missle like things that came out of the sides of the bridge. At least they looked new to me. : )
My only problem with Thunder this year was wondering who put the schizophrenic in charge of putting the musical score together??!! I mean seriously!! We have always had some type of Theme to the fireworks but this year...WTH??? It was sooooooo weird!! There was not really a rhyme or reason to how the music was put together and it was really strange how songs were bled into eachother. Weird, weird, weird! I hope they post it on YouTube so others can join in on the strange mix. I think the weirdest thing about it was that it is so how I am feeling right now ! Just pulled in 12 different directions all the time. Maybe it was really meant to be a soundtrack to my life. Hahaha!
Oh well, It was a fun and busy day and now I need to sleep so that I can spend tomorrow studying! Finals this week!
**Yup - I see it!!! : )

Hangin' In There!

Well, you know how the saying goes right? The best laid plans of mice and men... Yeah well, I have been planning and hoping to attend UofL's Accelerated Program in Nursing and of course, trying to plan ahead with the kids and the hubby. HA! Dear UofL, it is HARD to plan anything when you have decided to hold all decisions until after FINAL grades are in! WHY did you pick this semester to change things?? I can't promise camps and this and that if I am going to be home all summer and not in school. No reason to pay someone else to watch my kids if I will be there right?! So will there be spots left to place them if I DO get accepted?? UofL, You are making me a mess. I really don't want to pay DOUBLE the price to attend that private school's accelerated program even though I will get out two months earlier and keep everything ON PLAN. I can't really affort that! So now I am having to decide if I want to sell my left or right kidney and stick with the timeline, or keep all my body parts and Pray I remember Anything that I have learned in this previous year and wait for next year if I am not accepted. Just kidding, really. I think I will end up throwing my eggs into the cheaper (and longer) UofL basket and if it doesn't pan out for this year, I will go to work full time for a year and pay off some business debt and start next year. Who knows, maybe I will finally get around to writing that novel, finishing two years worth of scrapbooks for the elementary school, learning spanish & a little Mandarin, etc, etc, etc, ! ; ) In the mean time, I took my favorite young man to his swim team banquet and could not have been happier when he left me to go dance with his friends! Yesss! I always worry about him not being "involved" - keep proving me wrong buddy cause you are just so funny and awesome!

Yipes!

I have been a tad busy for the past 5 months... I guess nursing school will do that to you. I miss having a fun blog and getting to share what goes on around here. I am actually thinking of starting a new blog of what goes on in nursing school - that is, if I get in to the accelerated program of course. I don't get to find out until around April 1st which kind of stinks to make people wait that long.
This week I have been on spring break which I kicked off with my friend's 80's themed birthday party! And YES, I wore black "Chucks" to the party! I graduated from high school in the 80's in Red High Top Chuck Taylor tennis shoes. Because I was always the absolute coolest and Because I was always totally fashion forward... (ok, everyone who knows me, when you stop laughing you can keep reading!) Then, because the time "sprang forward" I missed church on Sunday which turned out great because the family went to the Y and had fun AND exercise. Of course we were then compelled to go to Denny's so that we wouldn't actually SEE any befifit from the workout. I could feel my arteries reclogging from the gravy on the country FRIED steak! Very great weekend except for my dad driving himself to the hospital on Sunday. Then Monday rolled around and I was able to stay home the first two days of the week with a sick kid (cause that's how my life rolls! I am just along for the ride most of the time), pick up my nephew and neice from school to play, have lunch with my youngest, take my oldest to have her stinky cast removed from her broken hand, visit my dad and good friend in the hospital,...should I keep going??? Thank God this all happened this week, I can't imagine trying to juggle this with my classes too. Ha!
This is my neice Harp and this is the look she gives you when she doesn't get what she wants.
It still works on me most of the time. I am kind of the "sucker" aunt. She loves to play Tea Party with the silver tea set in the living room and I am happy to oblige. The simplest things...
Besides, how could you say No to this face and then live with yourself????
I am vowing to get some studying done tomorrow though. I better if I want to keep good grades!! Glad I had this breather though and for the record, everyone is recovering nicely. Thank God!

Wise Owl Giveaway & Learning Curve

I just love checking out my girlfriends blog. I am just GREEN with ENVY for her crafty-ness!! :) she is such a fun girl too so I love following her blog and getting updates on what she is doing in my inbox every few days. And she always has great music on her blog so I always can't wait to see what pops up! Ha ha!
I talk about Amanda because she makes some awesome stationary and some really fun "felties" that you can use if you make cards or you scrapbook. I just used my third feltie (and last - boo!) that I bought from her etsy shop this last week when I went scrapbooking. I put a cute bird she made on the layout I did for Riley showing how she learned to ride her bike! Very cute and fun layout to make! I was remembering her decision to finally learn how to ride and her big brother helping her. Sweet time.
Amanda is doing a "Give Away" of some great stationary she hand made and a hand made Wise Owl feltie. I REALLY WANT TO WIN IT!!!! But I also need to tell my followers about it and the friends that get my Blog by email so you can sign up for a chance too. Here is the post about the giveaway but if you click on the Title of her Blog you can go and see some other posts she has made. Some are really funny and the latest one was kind of sad because she had an "Alexander" kind of day today!! So go check her out and send her good vibes for GOOD DAYS AHEAD!!! :)

Hoe-Down Birthday!

It has been way too long since my last post and I fear this may be a trend through out this school year! I have three kids in school and I, myself, am taking classes to become a NURSE! I am very excited about this but whew is it WORK!! I never feel like I have enough time for anything! I badly miss my nephew and neice and many friends that I just don't have time to hang out with. I am not trying to avoid anyone but if I don't buckle down and study, I will never pass my tests and I won't get that RN I am working so hard for! BUT, last night I was able to attend my friend Emily's birthday party which was held on a farm in southeast Jefferson county. It was a DREAM birthday party!! (Her dream and definately one of my long held dreams!) I have always wanted to go to a party like the one I went to last night. I had so much fun and everything was so beautiful and bright that Emily said to me, "Don't you feel like you are on a real movie set?!!" Yes!! It was like what you would see in a movie, a barn, lights strung up, a big tree house with a swing underneath, hay bales and a wagon. We even had a girl who taught us dances and "called" the dances for us. Just like in a movie!! I would have loved to have been thrown that birthday party - it was perfect!!! And I know Emily enjoyed every minute of it! As a matter of fact she was so giddy and happy by the end of the party that something silly I said made her laugh water out of her nose! Now really, there is no better way to end your birthday party than by laughing so hard that water comes out your nose!! (And no, there was no alcohol which made the party all the better! (Didn't have to worry about anyone getting stupid!))
So, I had a great night with Keith and with Emily and other friends and now I must return to the books!
